Voluntary technical control

"Voluntary technical inspection" means, in accordance with par. 2f of article 18 of Law 3446/2006 (A'49), the special technical inspection carried out by the private KTEOs in the categories of vehicles defined in the relevant legislation, after request of their owners. The voluntary technical inspection is carried out on vehicles registered in our country or in other Member States of the European Union or in Third Countries.

Special inspection of LPG-CNG (liquefied gas-natural gas) Installation

After the installation-modification of the vehicle in an LPG engine, it is mandatory within 30 days to carry out an inspection by KTEO which certifies the correctness of the installation of the components as well as that all the components have been notified to the Ministry of Transport and are suitable.

LPG-CNG (Liquid Gas-Natural Gas) Removal Special Control

In the case of uninstallation, the vehicle must pass a technical uninstallation check.

Fine

There are 3 types of fines depending on the category of the vehicle and the time of the delay. With the implementation of the new law, if a vehicle has not been presented in time for a technical inspection at a KTEO, in principle it will be charged with the usual fine imposed on passenger cars, which for the first month of delay is 16 euros, for up to six months, 33 euros and for more than six months, 65 euros.

Exhaust Card

All vehicles are required to have an Emission Control Card from the first year of their circulation. Its validity is one year, except in the case of passenger D.X. (Taxis) in which its validity is 6 months. The institution of the "Emission Control Card" (ECC) was established by authorization of article 3 of Law 2052/92. It is part of the measures to deal with the cloud in large urban centers and is implemented by establishing a special control of exhaust gases for all categories of vehicles in circulation. According to the "institution of the K.E.K." all cars in circulation should be checked at regular intervals, by authorized workshops or by the KTEO if they are scheduled to undergo a periodic technical check, to determine if the exhaust gas emissions are within the permissible limits and be provided with a KEK form.
