What does KTEO mean and what is Private KTEO?

All new Passenger Cars, Light Trucks (Gross Weight under 3.5T) and Two-Wheels are inspected for the first time four (4) years from the date of issuance of their Traffic Permit, which is written on the vehicle's traffic permit. Heavy Vehicles (i.e. vehicles over 3.5T) as well as Public Use e.g. TACHI, they have an obligation for a first vehicle inspection as soon as they complete one year from the date of their 1st driving license.

2. When do I pass KTEO?

Since the first inspection has been carried out, passenger vehicles, trucks up to 3.5T and two-wheelers over 50 cubic meters, have an obligation for a periodic technical inspection after two years from the date of the inspection which is written on the TECHNICAL INSPECTION BULLETIN of your vehicle. eg: if the first check was done on 5/11/2013 then the next KTEO is set for 5/11/2015. In Heavy (over 3.5T) and Public use vehicles (TACHI). the periodic technical inspection is carried out every year.

3. When should I get a new GAS CARD?

Light vehicles (Gross Weight up to 3.5T) are required to issue an Emission Card EVERY YEAR. Even new vehicles (passengers and trucks up to 3.5T) are required to issue an Emission Control Card as soon as they complete the first year from the date of their 1st registration. Vehicles with Light Weight over 3.5T (Heavy) as well as Public Use (e.g. TACHI), issue an Emission Control Card every 6 months. Two-wheelers are not required to issue an emissions card.

4. Do I have to make an appointment to come for a KTEO check (or for an emissions card)?

The service at AUTO TECHNIK is immediate even without a scheduled appointment. However, the appointment ensures priority and planning in your precious time. For the issuance of an autonomous Emissions Control Card you can present your vehicle whenever you wish and in 10' you will be ready.

5. How long will it take for the inspection?

Based on legislation, a minimum time for carrying out a technical inspection is defined, which is determined according to the category of the vehicle. This time starts counting from the entry of the vehicle in the control line and ends with the printing of the Technical Control Report of the vehicle. In the following table you can find out about the ελάχιστη χρονική διάρκεια διεξαγωγής του τεχνικού ελέγχου ανά κατηγορία οχήματος.

6. What supporting documents must I have with me for a KTEO check? What else should I bring with me?

The supporting documents are determined according to the category and type of control of the vehicle. For light vehicles up to 3.5T and two-wheelers over 50 cubic meters, the basic supporting documents are: The license, the identity of the person presenting the vehicle and the previous Technical Inspection Report (if it has been re-inspected). Additional supporting documents may be requested for Heavy Vehicles (over 3.5T).

7. Does the car have to be the owner to pass the KTEO?

No, it is not necessary for the owner to present his vehicle for technical inspection. The person presenting the vehicle should have his own identity card, or driver's license, or passport with him.
w

8. Is there a charge for the re-inspection of a car or two-wheeler?

Relatively recent (January 2015) legislative regulation of the Ministry of Transport provides a mandatory fee for the re-inspection of vehicles and two-wheelers. The minimum re-inspection fee is calculated based on a specific table and depends on the category and size of the vehicle, as well as the delay time in the case of an overdue inspection.
